    • Ensure Geofence boundaries are at least 20m away from the Dock location and intended flying areas.
  3. Importing a KML File :
    • Enter a name for the geofence and import the KML file from your device.
  4. Creating a Geofence on the Dashboard :
    • Polygon Geofence: Select 'Polygon,' set vertices on the map, adjust them, and click 'Create.'
    • Circular Geofence: Select 'Circular,' adjust the radius by dragging node points or setting it directly.

Managing Geofences:

  1. Activating/Deactivating Geofences :
    • Toggle geofences to be active or inactive depending on use cases.
  2. Assigning Geofences to Devices :
    • Navigate to the Settings page and click on the Zones section.
    • Under Geofence, select 'Select from Library,' choose the appropriate geofence for the device, and click 'Sync.'

Drone Behavior within Geofence Boundaries:

  1. Drone Won't Take Off :
    • If the docking station is outside the geofence, the drone will not take off.
  2. Abort Flight and Hover :
    • If a 'Go to Location' command is triggered outside the geofence, the drone will abort the maneuver upon approaching the boundary (10-20m) and hover.
  3. Return to Docking Station:
    • If a mission leads the drone outside the geofence, it will initiate a Return-to-Docking-Station procedure upon approaching the boundary.

Conclusion:
With geofences in place, you can ensure your drone operates safely and within aviation regulations. Create your geofences and fly confidently, knowing you're in full control of your airspace.

Introduction:
Detect and Avoid (DAA) systems are crucial for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone operations, enhancing safety and navigation.

  • FlytBase integrates with advanced technologies like Iris Automation's Casia G and DJI's Airsense.

Traditional BVLOS Safety Challenges:
Reliance on visual observers is limited by human factors like fatigue and environmental conditions.

Digital Visual Observers (DVOs):

  • DVOs provide continuous airspace monitoring using sensors (radar, thermal imaging, ADS-B).
  • They detect and avoid obstacles autonomously, improving operational safety.

Integration with FlytBase :

  • Casia G by Iris Automation: Uses optical vision and AI to monitor airspace within a 2 km radius with a 360° view. Identifies both cooperative and non-cooperative aircraft.
  • DJI Airsense: Utilizes ADS-B technology for real-time alerts about nearby aircraft, enhancing situational awareness.

Accessing Sensor Data:

  1. Navigate to the top left hamburger menu and select "Sensors."
  2. View all active detect and avoid sensors.
  3. Click on the desired sensor for detailed specifications and setup information.
  4. The "Live Traffic" tab shows intruding aircraft in your airspace.

Manual Safety Measures:
In live operations, manually trigger "Go to safe altitude" to move the drone to a safer altitude if an aircraft is detected.

Global Applicability:
The discussed strategies and technologies are applicable globally, especially in regions using the FAA, EASA & SORA risk assessment methodology.

Enhancing Public Safety:
DFR (Drones as First Responders) programs use DAA technology to improve response times and situational awareness, acting as force multipliers for public safety agencies.
